Description

The System Administrator is a critical role within the IT department, responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure. This role ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the information systems that support core organizational functions. In addition to traditional infrastructure management, this role drives technical innovation by integrating AI tools, implementing robust system automation, and is fully accountable for executing and achieving Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) established by IT leadership.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of computer networks including hardware/software support, training, and special projects.
  • Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure.
  • Deploy, manage, and maintain enterprise antivirus solutions.
  • Ensure all systems are protected and up-to-date with the latest antivirus definitions.
  • Administer and maintain AD infrastructure, including user and group management, group policies, and AD health monitoring.
  • Implement and manage security policies and permissions within the AD environment.
  • Manage and maintain corporate email systems, ensuring reliability and security.
  • Troubleshoot email-related issues and optimize email performance.
  • Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of web servers and related services.
  • Ensure the availability, security, and performance of web applications.
  • Implement and manage backup solutions, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and conduct regular tests to ensure preparedness.
  • Manage storage infrastructure, ensuring adequate capacity and performance.
  • Monitor storage usage and implement solutions to optimize storage efficiency.
  • Implement and utilize monitoring tools to track system performance and health.
  • Respond to and resolve system alerts and performance issues promptly.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated scripts and workflows to streamline system, provisioning.configuration management, and routine administrative tasks.
  • Evaluate, implement, and manage Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions (such as AIOps or AI assistants) to optimize IT workflows, enhance intelligent system monitoring, and further reduce manual overhead.
  • Actively align daily operations and strategic IT projects with management goals, ensuring the successful, measurable, and timely completion of assigned Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Generate and analyze system performance reports to identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and procedures.
  • Implement security measures to protect IT infrastructure from cyber threats.
  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for IT-related issues.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior IT staff.
  • Cooperate with HQ IT for IT infra-related project.

 


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient in Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Extensive experience with Active Directory administration.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise antivirus solutions.
  • Expertise in managing email systems (e.g., Microsoft Exchange, Office 365).
  • Experience with web server technologies (e.g., IIS, Apache).
  • Solid understanding of backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
  • Knowledge of storage systems (e.g., SAN, NAS).
  • Proficiency in system health monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, SolarWinds).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Project Management: Lead and execute IT infrastructure projects from conception to deployment, applying strong project management skills to ensure delivery on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational resources.
  • Technical Documentation & SOPs: Leverage Microsoft Word to create, maintain, and standardize comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring all IT processes are well-documented and compliant.
  • Data Analysis & Presentation: Utilize Microsoft Excel for IT data analysis, capacity planning, and metrics tracking, and proficiently use Microsoft PowerPoint to deliver clear, professional presentations and project updates to management and cross-functional stakeholders.

 

Required Qualifications:

Years of Education

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

 

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in system administration, IT infrastructure, or a related technical field.
  • Experience administering Windows and Linux operating systems, Active Directory, email systems, backup and disaster recovery, and storage environments.
  • Experience with system monitoring, automation, infrastructure troubleshooting, and IT security.
  • Experience supporting and executing IT infrastructure projects.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or similar.
• CompTIA Security+ or equivalent.
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or similar.
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
 

 

Working Conditions:

  • Work schedule based in Fremont, CA  
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required. 
  • Availability to support occasional evening or weekend maintenance, upgrades, or critical infrastructure issues as needed. 
  • May require work in data center/server room environments, including exposure to server hardware, cabling, and infrastructure equipment. 
  • Ability to lift and move IT equipment as needed. 

 

$86,000 to $108,000 annually is the estimated pay range for this role working in Fremont, California office. The final amount will be determined based on qualifications & experience of the candidate relative to the role.
